A single authoritative media collection distributed across members of a closed system through bittorrent.

The idea

Stremio + Torrentio is a cool technology but it suffers from a big problem where it only seeds while it’s streaming a movie a single time. This basically makes the streaming user a leech as they never contribute back to the ecosystem. In its current state, a stremio user has 0 incentive to contribute back anyway, but built on top of a private tracker model and incentivized sharing, this could be different.

I’m imagining a private tracker that integrates with a fork of Jellyfin alongside a modified version of torrentio. There’s one big, organized, and authoritative  media collection. Before streaming a movie or tv show, the client will reach out to the server to start downloading a .torrent file with a linear priority for optimized streaming.

The torrent file becomes the user’s media control.

The standard private tracker rules apply. You have a dashboard showing you what movies you’re seeding, your ratio, hit & run etc.
